Survey Findings: Principals and Teachers Support SEL but Focus on Behavior Management

Teachers and principals participating in a recent RAND survey reported prioritizing SEL – although most did not receive pre-service training on SEL, and many – particularly those in high-poverty schools –equate SEL with improving student behavior, raising concerns about equity in students’ access to supportive, strengths-based SEL activities.
